HR Lunch n’ Learn Recap
SDEA has started a new “member-only” group that plans on meeting every other month to provide an opportunity for HR professionals and those in charge of the HR function to get together and share best-practices in their various HR roles.
Our first meet-up, via Zoom, was in August and our topic for discussion was none other than Covid. The group was able to bounce questions off of each other and share scenarios related to the trials and tribulations that are new to the HR world surrounding Covid. Topics of discussion included telecommuting—what’s working and what’s not; what employers are doing with employees who need time off because their child’s school or daycare is closed; what are employers planning on doing if the employee exhausts their Emergency FMLA; what protocols have employers implemented when an employee tests positive for Covid or if they have been exposed to someone who tests positive; what about employees who refuse to wear masks?
As a reminder, employers with fewer than 500 employees are subject to FFCRA and are required to notify their employees of their rights. Here is a link to the DOL notice.
