Preparing for the exam can be overwhelming, especially when you don’t know where to start. Fortunately, SDEA’s professionals are here to assist you in the preparation of your PHRca exam.  SDEA provides personal prep time, training materials and access to a learning management system.

Graduates of SDEA’s Prep Programs averaged an 85% pass rate.  The national average pass rate is 45% for first-time takers of the PHR exam.

To be eligible for the PHRca certification, candidates must have:

  • A minimum of 1 year of professional-level HR experience with a masters degree or higher.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional-level HR experience with a bachelors degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional-level HR experience with a high school diploma.

Certification is a career-long commitment that demonstrates dedication and credibility to employers, clients, staff members and professional peers around the globe. Certification attests to the investment you have made in your HR career and holds a recognized place in the profession.  The PHRca is for professionals who either practice in California or are responsible for human resource management in California. You do not have to be located in California to earn a PHRca®.

PHR® & SPHR®

SDEA’s PHR® & SPHR® Certification Prep Program is for you if you’re an experienced HR manager who’s serious about mastering technical and operational HR practices. The purpose of this study series is to arm you with the skills and techniques you need to master the PHR/SPHR certification exam.

Course materials correspond to the 6 functional responsibilities and associated knowledge defined by the HR Certification Institute:

  • Business Management
  • Workforce Planning and Employment
  • Human Resource Development
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Employee and Labor Relations
  • Risk Management

To be eligible for the PHR® certification, you must meet one of the following conditions for education and/or experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional-level HR position and a Master’s degree or higher
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional-level HR position and a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a professional-level HR position.

To be eligible for the SPHR® certification, you must meet one of the following conditions for education and/or experience:

  • A minimum of  4 years of experience in a professional-level HR position with a Master’s degree or higher.
  • A minimum of 5  years of experience in a professional-level HR position and a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 7  years of experience in a professional-level HR position.
