What is minimum wage in 2020? When is an employer required to pay travel time? How much job protected paternity leave is an employer of 25 people required to provide?

If you answered; $10.80/hour, during regular work hours, and none, then you are technically correct, but not in California.
The truth is, California employment regulations are much more generous to employees than Federal standards, and a quick Google search on a statute may cause you to be inadvertently out of compliance.

The PHRca course is designed to address the areas where California law and Federal law do not match. These sessions will help HR professionals to pass the PHRca exam, and act as a great reminder of the various areas where you need to dig a little deeper to make sure that you are following State guidelines. Even if you are not planning to take the PHRca exam, if you are an HR Practitioner in California these classes can help you to ensure your policies and practices adhere to the stricter standards.

SDEA will be offering the six-week PHRca preparatory program on Wednesdays from 9:00am – 12:00pm beginning January 29th. Space is limited, so register soon!
