We at SDEA are proud to announce that we are now a Kindness Certified Company through Kids for Peace, Global. The mission of Kids for Peace is to build a community of young people who are uplifting the world through love and action.
Part of the reason for SDEA’s inspiration to become a Kindness Certified Company is the ongoing issue of workplace incivility. A 2013 Harvard Business Review article stated that 98% of the thousands of workers they surveyed reported having experienced uncivil behavior, and a 2024 article in Forbes reports that the issue is still prevalent.
Incivility is usually described as being rude or disrespectful. As opposed to bullying, workplace incivility is typically more subtle and can include co-workers withholding needed information from one another, failing to pay attention during meetings, taking credit for others’ work, and generally not being appreciative to colleagues.
As you might expect, the result of workplace incivility is a decrease of employee engagement, lack of organizational commitment, and potential litigation if the behavior is perceived as discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.
SDEA can help you make a stand against workplace incivility with our onsite or webinar training programs on Effective Communication, Conflict Management, and Diversity & Inclusion. Call us to discuss how we can work with you to promote a culture of kindness, 858-505-0024
