The Power of Soft Skills Training in the Workplace

In today’s fast-paced and competitive business environment, it’s easy to overlook the importance of soft skills training for employees, particularly managers. However, the benefits of investing in soft skills training are numerous and can have a significant impact on employee engagement, productivity, and overall job satisfaction.

In fact, a survey by Gallup found that employees who are engaged are 26% more likely to stay with their current employer, and 41% more likely to have higher productivity levels. Furthermore, a study by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that organizations that invest in employee training and development are more likely to see an increase in employee engagement, with 75% of employees reporting that they are more likely to stay with an employer that offers opportunities for growth and development.

The Impact of Management Training on Employee Engagement

Soft skills training for leaders is crucial, as it not only makes managers feel more competent and confident in their roles, but also has a direct impact on the engagement and motivation of their team members. When managers are educated on employment laws, communication skills, and performance management, they are better equipped to lead and support their teams, leading to increased employee satisfaction and engagement. In fact, a study by the Harvard Business Review found that employees who have a positive relationship with their manager are more likely to be engaged and motivated, with 69% of employees reporting that they are more likely to stay with an employer if they have a good relationship with their manager.

Transforming Leadership Certificate Program

The San Diego Employers Association will be conducing its Transforming Leadership Certificate program, designed to provide managers with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their roles. The program will cover topics such as employment laws, communication skills, performance management, and more, and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 – 10:30, starting on September 16 and running through November 20.

By investing in soft skills training, particularly management training, employers can see a significant return on investment, including increased employee engagement, productivity, and job satisfaction.
