What You Need To Know About The Government Closure Tomorrow, Dec. 5th

With the news of the government closing tomorrow, December 5th, for a National Day of Mourning for President George H. W. Bush, here are some things for employers to remember:

There is no such thing as a “legal” holiday and while government holidays often come with business closures, it is always at the discretion of each company whether they choose to close for any day and whether or not they choose to pay employees for paid days off (certain rules may apply for exempt employees).  Companies who have employees wishing to take the day off tomorrow can require that the employee use their accrued paid time off or take the day off without pay.  If you have further questions, email us or call 858.505.0024.
