Nasland Engineering was founded by Don Nasland (pictured above) in 1959 as a small land surveying business. In the years since, the company has grown to offer full-service civil engineering, surveying, and land planning for projects developed locally and throughout the Southern California region. Today, Nasland is owned by Don’s sons, D.K. Nasland and Steve Nasland. D.K. oversees the field and survey operations for the company. As CEO, Steve manages the engineering department and provides direction for the marketing efforts of the business.
Nasland has a wide array of clients in the private and public sector. A sampling of Nasland’s most notable projects include the County of San Diego Administration Center and Waterfront Park, Rose Creek Bikeway, UCSD Reclaimed Water Program, and Del Mar Citywide Mobility Improvements.
Nasland employs approximately 40 people out of their home office in San Diego. Employees remark there is a respectful, professional, yet family feel to the organization, and a culture built on a commitment to the highest quality service experience for every client.
In addition to the firm’s professional contributions, Nasland gives back to the community by providing scholarships to students in scholarship programs for various industry organizations. Each year, Nasland employees take part in Shadow Day and career workshops for SDSU’s Minority Engineering Program (MEP) and serve as panelists at several MEP student workshops and seminars relating to job search skills, including mock interviews. Nasland also offers a student internship program which provides an opportunity for civil engineering students to obtain training and practical experience while attending school. In addition, Nasland currently supports and is involved in the ACE Mentor Program which helps mentor high school students and inspires them to pursue careers in engineering, design and construction.
All employees including professional, technical, managerial and support staff are encouraged to continuously develop their skills and enhance their knowledge. Professional licensing is an important goal for all of Nasland’s graduate engineers.
Away from work, Nasland Engineering organizes fun social activities for employees and their families. Events each year include lunchtime BBQs, tailgate parties, a summer picnic and a holiday party with dinner, dancing, employee longevity awards and a visit from Santa with presents for all the children.
